LOST SURFBOARDS | RNF RETRO'23 REVAMP

The RNF RETRO'23 REVAMP is …Lost’s latest spin on The RNF Retro, which was a design that was created towards a more classic, almost 1970’s inspired, fish. Catching waves and speeding was easier than with any other fish …Lost had ever designed because of its generous dims, low rocker, flat deck, steep rails and wide tail.

However, what set the RNF Retro apart from all of the other fish surfboards designed, was the use of a snowboard inspired design element, reverse radius side-cut, in the outline.This sidecut enables sharper turns whilst retaining speed in tight radius turns. Free of sliding out or digging anymore thanks to the sidecuts since they “lock in” to the wave face and carve off the rail with no problems added.

The RNF RETRO'23 REVAMP

So, what’s new to the RNF RETRO'23 REVAMP? Several tweaks on the overall design that really makes it a surfboard worth having in your quiver. This is how …Lost explains the magic behind the surfboard:

  • Moved the wide point slightly forward, for front foot drive, but gently narrowed/pulled in, the forward 12”of the nose, to get it outta the way, in tighter turning situations.
  • Deepened the rear side cut, for bite and control, right under the back foot and also added a hint of width to the tail block, for horizontal trim.

Without changing the tip or tail, we adjusted the rocker curves, both fore and aft. The tail rocker hangs lower in the rear third of the board, but then swoops up quickly, though the fins, creating more curve under the rear foot without actually adding rocker. Up front, we did the opposite and took a more direct route to the nose, cutting out some of the curve in the forward 1/3rd of the board. At the same time, we eliminated the slight forward vee.

All these make the RNF RETRO'23 REVAMP a hell of a tool and these tweaks on the rocker will allow you to enjoy a more modern, dare say, vertical, approach to surfing with an added forgiving feel under the back foot, for more precise pocket turns, without catching the nose.

After an evolution of 5 years on production and custom orders applying these advances on a proven design, now they come available for you. Most of the adjustments are very subtle and are barely seen to the untrained eye. That is why …Lost decided to give it a visual twist with a new brand logo, tints and sprays so there is no mistake when it comes to a fresh full re-vamp and makeover.

Regarding the stock dims and volumes, there are no big changes and they are very close to the original. So, if you had the RNF Retro on your quiver and you love that certain size, the new version in the same size will be on par, dims and volume wise.

Our Custom Board Builder allows you to customize size, width, thickness, volume, color, logo placement, glassing, fin setup, fin system, finish and overall look. Factory lead times may vary depending on your desired brand, model and surfboard characteristics.

Each board goes through a quality check, is photographed in our studios in Donostia / San Sebastian (Basque Country, Spain) and is handled with care before heading your way.
