The Lost Step Driver, designed by Matt Biolos, is a high-performance step-up developed for bigger, faster and more powerful waves. Directly evolved from the Driver 2.0, it was created alongside Lost Surfboards’ elite team to provide the extra confidence and control needed when conditions become serious, without losing the speed and responsiveness of an everyday performance shortboard. It is built for critical surfing where powerful turns, steep sections and tube riding all come into play.
Rather than feeling like a completely different board when you move up in wave size, the Step Driver is designed as a natural transition from your regular shortboard. It is typically ridden 1–2 inches longer than a Driver 2.0 or similar high-performance model, with a comparable width and slightly more thickness. This additional length and foam provide extra paddle power, stability and hold, while the performance-driven design keeps the board sensitive enough for fast direction changes and committed maneuvers.
Wanting to go further? Now is your time to pick up a board that allows you to make the next step.
The Step Driver has been extensively tested in powerful waves around the world by some of Lost Surfboards’ best surfers. Kolohe Andino, Carissa Moore, Caroline Marks, Griffin Colapinto and Yago Dora, alongside freesurfers such as Mason Ho and Ian Crane and younger talents including Crosby Colapinto and Eli Hanneman, have all helped prove the design in competition, on surf trips and in serious waves. That level of testing has made the Step Driver a trusted step-up option within the Lost team quiver.

It allows experienced surfers to tackle larger and more challenging waves with the familiarity of their regular shortboard while gaining the paddle power, control and confidence required by more demanding conditions. From powerful Atlantic surf in Europe to quality waves in Hawaii and Indonesia, the Step Driver is a versatile performance step-up for surfers looking to push their surfing when the waves get special.
