JS INDUSTRIES | XERO

The Xero just delivers an obvious quantum leap in performance in 0-4 ft waves, so building it was a no brainer. It is a model for zero to four feet waves, so that is basically the story about why we named it Xero.

| The New Go-To All-Round Standard

Experimenting with designs is a constant routine in JS Industries, but they only decide to go for a new model when enhanced performance is happening.

The Xero came together by taking and mixing the best parts and elements of the most popular models, just like the Monsta Box or the Blak Box. In JS Industries own words: “We focused on the strengths of our three clear global favourites over the past decade, and tested combinations along with fresh ideas endlessly alongside the Traktor Team to find the ultimate everyday shortboard.”

Xero will blow your mind specially in weaker, flatter faced waves, but will perform in all conditions. 

JS has kept Xero high performance by just keeping the high performance outline that we all are familiar with and getting it to  do its job in weaker waves. That is why it is the golden all-round standard performance.

The XERO

So what elements did JS and the tractor team fused in this Xero board? Blak Box rocker, Monsta rails and concaves, with a Monsta outline were thrown into the mix. The result is an incredible fast board that will excel in weaker waves but fits into a huge array of waves. It even provides more drive than the Monsta Box.

It will get you flying in almost anything because its flat enough but also provides enough curve to be pushed hard. Flows nicely and provides intuitive, instant direction changes.

The Xero has the same rocker as the superseded Blak Box 3. Overall low to flat rocker. The perfect all-round rocker recipe for creating speed and glide in small to average surf conditions.

You can confidently control the basic turns. Paddling out alone in your spot and riding waves till the end is no secret for you. 

MORE ABOUT XERO

Xero’s concave is pretty similar to the Monsta Box, which means that features a single concave under the front foot that runs into a double concave through the fins. This will offer an extra lift but still maintain control on critical sections.

If you are wondering about its rails, it comes with medium full rails that match those of the Monsta Box 2020.  This rail shape is a performance based rail that will allow you precision when the right section stands up, but also has enough volume to get you through fat sections or avoid catch in chops.

Why Build the Xero?

The idea to build the Xero came along with the Olympics. Once that was a reality and Japan was the first scenario, JS Industries started to think about the perfect board for it. A surfboard that would fit Japan’s soft waves demands. The look for a surfboard that would offer a solution for weaker or flatter faced waves started. Waves that would ask for generating speed and demand to do the job of the surfer. The rocker excels in those weaker ways.

Waves that fit like a glove to this golden all-rounder standard?

Those would be 0-4ft waves. It will go great in a wide range of conditions, from crumbly, flatter wave faces to good quality surf.  This rocker has been proven over and over to be the most versatile amongst the X-Series surfboards.

Which size should I choose?

The recommendation is to ride it the same dimensions as your Monsta Box 2020, or in Easy Rider dims, closer to your Black Box 3. 

If you have not ridden any of these models, do an inch or two inches lower and you will be good to go.
