The Lost Surfboards The Griffin is Griffin Colapinto’s performance groveler, designed to bring high-performance surfing into the smaller, everyday waves most surfers encounter regularly. It’s fast, responsive and forgiving, giving you the freedom to generate speed when the waves lack power without losing the precision you expect from a performance shortboard. It’s also a proven design: Griffin rode this model to victory at the Surf Ranch Pro.
A low nose rocker helps The Griffin accelerate quickly and carry speed through flatter sections, while its wider, forgiving round tail adds stability and makes the board easier to surf when conditions aren’t perfect. A touch of extra tail kick keeps it lively off the back foot, allowing tight direction changes, quick releases and more progressive surfing despite the added width.
Wanting to go further? Now is your time to pick up a board that allows you to make the next step.
In the Lost Surfboards range, The Griffin is most comparable to the Driver 3.0 Stub, but with a little more flair. It combines the accessible speed and everyday versatility of a performance groveler with the responsiveness Griffin Colapinto needs for explosive surfing. The result is a shortboard that can make average beach breaks feel more exciting while still having enough performance to push hard when the waves improve.
The Griffin is an excellent choice for intermediate to advanced surfers looking for a fast everyday shortboard for small to medium waves. From punchy beach breaks to softer everyday surf, it offers an appealing balance of speed, forgiveness and high-performance maneuverability.
Lost The Griffin Stock Dimensions
The Griffin is designed primarily for small to medium, everyday waves. Its low nose rocker helps create speed in weaker surf, while the round tail and added tail kick provide control and responsiveness when the waves become more powerful.
The Griffin is best suited to intermediate and advanced surfers who want performance-shortboard characteristics in smaller or less powerful conditions. It offers more forgiveness than a dedicated high-performance shortboard while still allowing progressive turns and fast surfing.
The Griffin is most closely related in concept to the Driver 3.0 Stub. Both are performance-oriented boards built to work in everyday conditions, but The Griffin adds its own character with a forgiving round tail, low entry rocker and a little more flair underfoot.
It sits between the two. Lost describes The Griffin as Griffin Colapinto’s performance grovel board, meaning it is designed to generate speed and perform in smaller surf without feeling like a traditional wide, flat groveler. It retains the sensitivity and maneuverability of a performance shortboard.
