TROY'S EUROPE SHAPING RESIDENCY 2025

It's June 12th summer 2025 and Pukas Surf Shop's Hannah, Aitor and Adur are meeting up with Troy Elmore and Tristan Mausse at Fantastic Acid.

This summer, Troy Elmore is spending time in Europe, hand-shaping a series of custom boards along with an exclusive batch for Pukas Surf Shop at Tristan Mausse’s Fantastic Acid facilities in France. Part of our crew had the chance to spend time with him there, watching Troy and Tristan shape side by side—a rare and inspiring sight. It’s truly something special to witness two master shapers working back to back, each with their own distinct style but a shared dedication to craftsmanship. Troy will also be visiting Spain during his stay, connecting with the local surf scene and soaking in the culture.

Troy Elmore is a California-based surfboard shaper, designer, and surfer whose work reflects a deep connection to the roots of surfing and a passion for timeless craftsmanship. ELMORE SHAPING IN EUROPE

Troy Elmore’s keel fin by True Ames. Hand foiled by Chuck Ames.

To finish up his MY Fish, Troy has brought with him his keel fin, developed in collaboration with True Ames and hand-foiled by Chuck Ames himself. Chuck, a pioneer in fin design and founder of True Ames, has been shaping fins by hand since the 1970s and is revered for his craftsmanship and understanding of hydrodynamics. Unlike mass-produced or molded fins, Chuck’s hand-foiled creations are meticulously tuned—from base to tip, foil to flex—to deliver unmatched performance. This particular keel is designed to pair perfectly with Troy’s fish models, offering effortless drive, smooth transitions, and reliable hold down the line. Each fin carries the subtle irregularities and fine-tuned feel that only hand work can achieve, making it not just a functional component but a true piece of craftsmanship. These fins are being glassed on to a select number of boards Troy is shaping during his stay in Europe, adding another layer of authenticity and precision to this exclusive batch.

Among the boards Troy is shaping for this limited collection are some of his most sought-after models: the MY Fish, Re-Dialer, and Punko Twin, as well as the Hot Dog, S’Eagle, Pusher, and Pusher 4. Each model offers something distinct, reflecting Troy’s wide range as a designer and surfer. The MY Fish is a classic twin with modern updates—low rocker, a full outline, and effortless speed. The Re-Dialer brings more bite and control to the fish design with a refined tail and twin-fin setup. The Punko Twin is a high-performance groveler for quick beach breaks, featuring deep concaves and a twin plus trailer configuration.

The Hot Dog is Troy’s log-style longboard, built for traditional surfing with a stable platform for classic nose rides and stylish trims. It’s smooth, balanced, and made for clean, gliding lines. The S’Eagle is a true glider, with a stretched-out outline and narrow profile designed for effortless trim and down-the-line speed—perfect for open faces and long points where flow is everything. The Pusher offers a lively, mid-length egg ride with single-to-double concave and great rail-to-rail transition, ideal for surfers looking for easy paddling and smooth control. The Pusher 4 brings that same mid-length DNA into a more aggressive mode with a quad fin setup, unlocking tighter turns and more hold while keeping the board smooth and forgiving.
